The United States and the United Kingdom have announced the creation of a joint task force to explore closer cooperation on cryptocurrency regulation, signaling a new era of transatlantic alignment in digital asset oversight.
According to officials from both governments, the task force will focus on harmonizing regulatory frameworks, combating illicit finance, and supporting innovation in blockchain technology. The partnership aims to provide greater clarity for crypto businesses operating across borders while protecting consumers and financial systems.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent and UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves emphasized that closer collaboration would help foster a responsible and competitive crypto market. Industry leaders welcomed the announcement, saying it could reduce regulatory fragmentation and boost institutional confidence in crypto adoption.
The task force’s first meeting is expected to take place within weeks, with working groups focusing on stablecoins, DeFi protocols, and cross-border compliance standards
