Consensys has launched the Linea Association, a Swiss-based non-profit organization dedicated to advancing the development, growth, and governance of Linea, a zkEVM Layer-2 protocol designed to scale Ethereum while upholding its core principles of security and decentralization.
As an independent entity, the Linea Association will steward the Linea network, nurturing a decentralized community-driven ecosystem. Nicolas Liochon, founder of Linea and board member of the Linea Association, expressed the organization’s commitment to decentralization: “Linea must be owned and governed openly by all as a public good, just as Layer 1 Ethereum is.” The association aims to unify Ethereum technologists, builders, and users under a shared vision of an onchain, decentralized world.
LINEA Token Launch Set for 2025
In a strategic move to decentralize governance, Consensys announced a token generation event for the LINEA token, slated for Q1 2025. Token holders will participate in decision-making and play a role in the protocol’s governance. The Linea Association will manage essential intellectual property and oversee a treasury to support its mission.
