The TRON blockchain is set to integrate Chainlink Data Feeds as its official oracle solution, replacing WINkLink to support DeFi applications such as JustLend and JustStable. In an Oct. 31 announcement, TRON revealed that its DAO would cease all reliance on WINkLink, favoring Chainlink to provide secure and reliable pricing data on-chain for its ecosystem.
Oracles are essential in blockchain networks, delivering external data to smart contracts and enabling decentralized applications (DApps) to function based on real-world inputs—such as asset prices, weather data, and event outcomes. Chainlink, a leader in the oracle space, currently secures a total value (TVS) of over $26 billion, surpassing competitors like WINkLink, Chronicle, and Pyth Network, with a combined TVS of $18.4 billion.
Chainlink will enhance security and transparency for TRON’s two largest DeFi projects, JustLend and JustStable, which represent over $6.5 billion in total liquidity. The collaboration is part of TRON’s participation in Chainlink’s SCALE program, designed to boost ecosystem growth and adoption. During this integration phase, TRON DAO will cover transaction gas fees for Chainlink Oracle networks, aiming to transition these operational costs to DApp user fees.
Sam Elfarra, a spokesperson for TRON DAO, emphasized that this switch aligns with TRON’s focus on scaling its DeFi ecosystem, stating, “Chainlink’s unmatched security and reliability made it the clear choice as TRON’s official oracle provider. This integration enables us to focus on scaling our ecosystem and driving mass adoption in the blockchain industry.”
Thodoris Karakostas, Chainlink’s Head of Blockchain Partnerships, underscored the commitment to empowering TRON developers with decentralized market data to build next-gen DeFi applications, advancing the decentralized internet.
