Singapore's DBS Bank Introduces Token Services for Institutional Investors

On Friday, DBS Bank launched DBS Token Services, a cutting-edge banking solution designed for institutional clients. This new service integrates tokenization and smart contract features into its existing infrastructure, aiming to improve banking operations and enhance efficiency.

Leveraging an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible permissioned blockchain, DBS has connected its core payment engine to industry payment systems, enabling instant, 24/7 real-time settlements. By utilizing smart contracts, institutional clients can set preset conditions on fund usage, enhancing security and transparency.

Expanding Digital Offerings with Blockchain-Driven Treasury Tokens

DBS has maintained control over the blockchain through its permissioned model, ensuring data security and regulatory compliance, addressing common concerns when integrating blockchain technology with traditional banking.

The bank’s new suite of services includes Treasury Tokens, Conditional Payments, and Programmable Rewards—solutions developed through extensive experimentation with digital money innovations. These offerings demonstrate how financial institutions can leverage blockchain and smart contracts to deliver enhanced client experiences.

Boosting Institutional Growth with Blockchain Liquidity Solutions

DBS aims to assist companies and public sector entities in transitioning to on-demand digital services by providing tokenization and smart contract features. These solutions allow clients to optimize liquidity management and streamline their operations.

In a move to further expand its digital services, DBS partnered with Ant International in August to launch a blockchain-based treasury and liquidity management solution. Additionally, the bank has announced plans to offer over-the-counter (OTC) crypto options trading and structured notes for institutional clients.
