Republican nominee Donald Trump holds a narrow lead over U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, according to a Fox News poll published on October 16, 2024, just weeks before the presidential election. The survey shows Trump at 50% and Harris at 48%, a 2% advantage, reversing Harris’ previous lead from last month’s poll.

Trump Gains Momentum in Tight Race

The latest poll marks Trump’s strongest showing since he announced his campaign in November 2022. As both candidates approach the final stretch of their campaigns, the race remains highly competitive, with Trump also leading in Polymarket’s 2024 election forecast.

Harris Advocates for Crypto Protections

As the election nears, both Trump and Harris have outlined their positions on digital assets and cryptocurrencies. On Monday, Harris unveiled her initiative aimed at creating an “opportunity economy” for Black male voters, pledging to ensure that digital asset owners and investors benefit from a clear regulatory framework.

Her campaign emphasized that 20% of Black men in the U.S. have owned or currently hold cryptocurrencies, and her policies aim to protect these investors. In addition to supporting fair crypto regulations, Harris has promised one million forgivable loans for Black entrepreneurs, new educational opportunities, a National Health Equity Initiative for Black men, and the legalization of recreational marijuana.

However, some in the crypto community were disappointed by the lack of specific details regarding Harris’ digital asset policy.

Trump Launches New Cryptocurrency Token

While Harris focuses on regulatory protections, Trump has taken a different approach by launching a new cryptocurrency token through his family’s platform, World Liberty Financial (WLFI). The launch, however, underperformed, raising only $12 million of its $300 million goal within the first 24 hours. Data shows that 11,740 addresses currently hold the WLFI token.

Trump has positioned himself as the more crypto-friendly candidate, vowing to implement a favorable regulatory framework for digital assets if elected. Despite this, critics have raised concerns about the token launch, with some comparing it to a potential pump-and-dump scheme.

As the election draws closer and the race remains too tight to call, both candidates continue to push their platforms on digital assets, with the outcome of the election still uncertain.
