USDT stablecoin issuer Tether has announced a strategic partnership with the Vietnam Blockchain Association (VBA) to enhance blockchain and cryptocurrency education in Vietnam. This collaboration aims to provide public stakeholders with valuable insights into the emerging technology through a series of workshops and conferences.
Strategic Partnership to Foster Blockchain Knowledge
Tether Operations Limited, the company behind the US dollar-backed stablecoin, has teamed up with VBA to spearhead educational initiatives focused on blockchain. The official statement highlighted that the partnership would promote knowledge-sharing and capacity-building within the blockchain industry.
In a move to advance blockchain and AI education, the VBA launched the Academy of Blockchain and AI Innovation on April 24 during its annual forum. The academy aims to enroll one million individuals by 2030, including 100,000 students from 30 universities across Vietnam. It features a board of directors, a scientific council comprising leading blockchain experts, and an executive committee dedicated to driving these educational goals.
Vietnam’s Strong Crypto Adoption and Education Efforts
According to Chainalysis’s 2023 crypto gains report, Vietnam ranks third globally in total crypto gains, amounting to $1.18 billion. Despite the recent bear market, cryptocurrency adoption in Vietnam has remained strong, with 17% of the population owning or having owned cryptocurrencies. The primary age group for crypto users in the country is between 25 and 34 years old.
Tether’s Broader Educational Mission
Tether’s collaboration with VBA is part of a broader initiative to educate local communities in Vietnam about the benefits of digital finance. The partners plan to conduct five educational conferences in major cities, including Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether, expressed excitement about the partnership, noting its potential to demonstrate how blockchain technologies can address unique challenges faced by Vietnamese communities.
Comprehensive Learning and Development Opportunities
VBA will also create extensive learning and development opportunities for the younger generation through joint training and research programs with Tether. Phan Duc Trung, vice chairman of VBA, emphasized that these initiatives would help young people confidently navigate the digital era and enhance their fintech knowledge.
Additionally, the blockchain academy has launched the UniTour 2024 program, specifically designed for university students. Supported by Tether, this initiative has already imparted valuable knowledge about blockchain applications tailored to the needs of various universities.
Conclusion
The partnership between Tether and VBA represents a significant step forward in blockchain education in Vietnam. By leveraging their combined expertise and resources, the two organizations aim to empower individuals and communities with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
