On February 20, 2024, the Starknet Foundation team unveiled plans for an airdrop initiative, signaling a significant development in the project’s ecosystem.
According to the announcement, the distribution of native STRK tokens will be conducted among 1.3 million users, with a total allocation of 700 million STRK tokens. This amounts to 7% of the total supply of 10 billion tokens.
To be eligible for the airdrop, users must meet specific criteria. They must have conducted five or more transactions over three or more separate months, totaling at least $100, and held a balance of 0.005 Ethereum (ETH) or more in their wallet before November 15, 2023.
In addition to individual users, various participants in the Starknet ecosystem are eligible for the airdrop. This includes participants in the ECMP program, Starknet developers, StarkEx users, Ethereum developers, authors of Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs), Ethereum stakers, members of the Ethereum Protocol Guild, and GitHub developers. Users have until June 20, 2024, to claim their entitlement to the tokens.
The announcement follows a previous commitment by the Starknet team in early December 2023 to distribute 1.8 billion STRK tokens among the project’s ecosystem committees. Part of these funds will be utilized for the initial distribution, while the remaining portion will form a revolving fund. Of the 1.8 billion tokens, 900 million STRK will be allocated as return funds for community members. The Starknet Foundation will establish a dedicated committee to oversee the distribution of these tokens, rewarding users for their “vital transactions on the network.”
The airdrop initiative underscores Starknet’s commitment to fostering community engagement and incentivizing active participation within its ecosystem. As users eagerly anticipate the distribution of STRK tokens, this move is expected to further enhance the project’s growth and development in the coming months.
